Highly motivated and qualified staff

Staff

The most important assets for a successful hospital are optimal patient care standards, high medical quality, state-of-the-art medical technology, and highly qualified and motivated personnel. Accordingly, we are committed to policy of systematic, demand-oriented internal and external training and employee development across all professional groups. At 01 March 2007 the Group employed more than to 31,000 persons. Of these, approx. 12 % are medical doctors and approx. 67 % nursing and other medical professionals.

Junior executive training programmes

In the light of our continued growth, we have a constantly rising demand for executives capable of pursuing and implementing our corporate strategies at the operative level. As part of a two-year training programme involving various locations, young graduates in business science or law are given the opportunity of acquiring work experience in the key departments of a clinic. They are subsequently deployed in managerial positions within the Group. In autumn 1998, the University of Bayreuth launched a new diploma course of studies, „Health Economy“, which is sponsored by RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG in cooperation with the health insurer Techniker Krankenkasse. This specialised course is also designed to spawn talented junior executives for our company.

Living the idea of codetermination

We welcome direct input from our staff. Involving and asking our employees for their views and suggestions – then working with them to continuously improve their working environment and all clinical processes – is part of our philosophy. We have established a committee comprising management and employee representatives, which examines at regular intervals the suggestions put forward and decides over the awarding of bonuses.

Profit sharing for all

By applying individual company wage agreements, our hospitals can respond to the prevailing labour market conditions and company structures on site. A key difference of our payment schemes compared to those of the statutory BAT (Bundesangestelltentarif) is that our employees enjoy the benefits of a performance-related share in the overall result of “their” hospital. Our profit-sharing scheme is not only a direct way of rewarding our employees for their commitment but also serves to strengthen their loyalty and encourage understanding for the need to provide for
long-term job security.
